The New Mexico Environment Department is kicking off a virtual and public hearing today to decide whether to approve permits for oil and gas companies to keep polluting northwest New Mexico’s Greater Chaco region.
The Department will be asking for public comment at 12 noon and 5 PM. Just show up virtually via Zoom and use the chat function to request an opportunity to comment.
In spite of this major pollution problem, the Environment Department wants to approve 2 new permits that would allow Hilcorp’s Harvest Four Corners to keep operating two massive sources of air pollution: the Chaco Compressor Station and the Carracas Compressor Station (click here to see where these facilities are located, https://arcg.is/1D1GH8).
To observe the hearing and make public comment, the hearing can best be accessed via Zoom
