‘It’s been over a year since we celebrated Bears Ears National Monument’s restoration! Now, there is an opportunity to shape the land and resource management to ensure it embodies the fundamental principles that manifested its establishment.
The Bureau of Land Management opened a scoping period for the monument’s land use planning process — inclusive of public hearings. And your voice is needed at a public hearing this Wednesday, October 13th to amplify the need for the plan to remain committed to bolster Tribally centered collaborative management.
This is a crucial moment for Bears Ears that stands to set an important precedent by incorporating traditional Native American values into the management of a monument. By attending a meeting, you will promote the just and certain protection for vital natural and cultural resources that comprise the Bears Ears cultural landscape.
We have the opportunity right now to influence the Bears Ears management plan. But we need your voice to ensure the monument’s management plan embodies the principles on which it was established. The more supporters who attend this hearing, the greater impact we will have!
Participate in the upcoming public scoping meeting and stay tuned for more information about submitting an official comment to the BLM.
