Holtec, a privately-held company, plans to construct and operate a storage facility for spent nuclear fuel in Lea County.
Now that Holtec has a license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to proceed in Lea County, the time has come to take a closer look at Holtec’s record and how it does business. This close review hasn’t taken place yet in New Mexico. Even though recently enacted SB 53 does not allow Holtec to receive any state permit at this time, the subject is still very much alive because Holtec is likely to sue in a bid to have SB 53 invalidated.
The seminar will convene August 14, 1-3 p.m. in the Roadrunner Room (second floor) of Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Avenue, Las Cruces. The seminar is open to the public so feel free to bring a friend or two. Please also circulate this message to all who might be interested in attending.
