You are invited to a Zoom presentation on immigration, Central America, and the complex of factors pushing so many people to seek asylum at the US border.
The speaker will be UNM Professor Kimberly Gauderman, an expert on human–rights issues who has served as an expert witness in over 200 asylum cases heard in U.S. courts. She has worked with attorneys across the nation to support those seeking asylum in the United States because of domestic, sexual, gang and political violence, and threats to their racial and gender identity and/or sexual orientation in their countries of origin.
Professor Gauderman is a member of UNM’s History Department and a faculty affiliate in the UNM School of Law. She has a Ph.D. in Latin American history from UCLA. The presentation will last about an hour and a half, with time for questions.
Forum sponsored by the Green Justice/Immigration Justice/Racial Justice teams at First Congregational UCC, Albuquerque
