The Sanctuary Movement in the 1980s

August 2 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Glan Thamert and Demetria Martinez will be sharing the story of their experience in the sanctuary movement in the 1980s – both were charged and ultimately acquitted for their involvement. Their story in and of itself is incredible and it will also be a call to action for our communities in our present moment to be a part of the sanctuary movement.  The stories have relevance to contemporary times. A large number of immigrants and refugees arriving at our borders are affected by climate change in their home countries.

First Congregational Church
2801 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106
5:30-7:30 p.m.

There is a hybrid option for the presentation/talk part of the evening and a flyer is attached with more of the details including a zoom link – please share widely! This event will be open to the press and local leaders such as Mayor Keller and local congresspeople have been invited to attend.
