Blessed Earth Day!
/in Uncategorized /by adminToday, I rose with the sun’s grateful beams offering morning prayers for the miracle of life on our sister/mother Earth. My heart wondered at the gift of the humble work we share through NMIPL.
Then I realized again–we are co-creators sharing miracles. The lettuce, spinach and broccoli picked from my garden and the clucking of hens and new chicks joined the chorus of joy for the day.
We are miracles of life. We are given the miracle of Earth. And, we are called to care for the miracles for future generations. Your work in creation care, loving earth and the children, and addressing climate change is vital.
Thanks to many of you we were able to deliver more than 500 postcards signed by people of faith supporting EPA rulings on coal fired power plants to our Senator’s offices this week. Thank you also for the many Earth Day prayers, events and services in so many of your faith communities.
I invite you now to another action for Earth Day. Add your signature on a letter addressing concerns about water, climate and energy. The letter on our website evolved as part of the Albuquerque Mennonite Watershed Discipleship weekend. Go to our website and sign the letter at the bottom of our homepage. The letter will be delivered to officials by early summer.
As always, we appreciate you, your work, prayers, meditation and our journey together on this amazing Earth. We always welcome your financial contributions, ideas and news of your good works.
Blessed Earth Day,
Joan Brown,osf
